I got interviewed for the Sound Designer, a computer music magazine for guitar players. I talked about my way of composing, arranging, and using DAWs. Many photos of my room, piano and other equipments are in it. Actually my room is always messy. To prepare for the interview, I cleaned my room and also got a haircut.
I heard from the editor that many readers were interested in how they create good chord progressions. He said many readers write chord progressions first. He asked me “What are your tips to make good chord progressions.” I have no idea for that question because I don’t make music from chord progressions. Chord progressions are always accompanying melodies. Independently thinking about chord progressions is no meaning for me.
But I don’t deny writing chord progression first. It’s up to you. It’s up to the style of music. It’s very important to find out your most comfortable way to make your music. I believe you can find it out.
